In a recent feature in the Portuguese press, the story of Vasilii Grebencea unfolds — a man for whom wine became more than a profession, but a way of seeing the world.
Originally from Moldova, he came to Portugal “for one summer” — and never left.
After learning the art of Port wine and earning his WSET certification, he realised he wanted to create a place where wine is a conversation, an experience, and a shared discovery. That vision became
Dogma Wine Bar — a space where every bottle tells a story of its region, its soil, and its maker.
Dogma follows its own path: it highlights lesser-known producers who create wines with soul and authenticity. Vasilii says: “My greatest joy is when a guest tastes something and says, ‘I discovered something new.’”
Today, Dogma proudly holds the red star of the
Star Wine List — the “Michelin” of wine bars — yet for Vasilii, true success lies in every guest leaving with “one more piece of Portugal” in their heart.
